Louis Druehl has contributed to our understanding of seaweed biology through his research on kelp ecology, evolution and cultivation. His Pacific Seaweeds (Harbour Publishing) is a Canadian best seller. With over 36 years dedicated to the study of kelp, Louis Druehl’s efforts have been honoured by the naming of a new kelp genus, Druehlia fistulosa. This species, which reaches lengths of 30 meters/98 feet, is distributed from Southern Alaska to Hokkaido, Japan. A well as Saccharina druehlii which is unique to Haida Gwaii. A leader in the kelp world, Louis been called upon by various academic, industry and government organizations for his expertise. He is looking forward to sharing his knowledge with you.
